You will initially drive through the spectacular High-Atlas Mountains that offer breathtaking views with their snow-capped peaks throughout the winter offering excellent opportunities for memorable shots. You will cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m), which is the highest pass in the north of Africa, and then get to the dramatic Ksar (Village) Ait Benhaddou.
This village has a rich history being in the former caravan route that used to connect Marrakech with the Sahara Desert turning it into an important commercial center. It consists of numerous Kasbahs (fortresses) that are striking examples of southern architecture to the extent it has been used as a backdrop for shooting many Hollywood Films including Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Kingdom of Heaven, Prince of Persia, and many others.
After lunch, you will continue on the track further south to the lush Dades Valley passing by the palm oasis of Skoura, the Valley of Roses where you may want to include a short break to learn about the different products that are made of roses including rose-water, perfumes, soaps, lotions and much more.
Today, you will resume your 3 days Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour by stretching your legs by the ever-flowing Todra River in the impressive Todra Gorge (Canyon). This high cliff has been an attraction among mountain climbers, trekkers, and nature seekers. After having lunch near Tinejdad or Erfoud, you will arrive in the golden Sahara desert of Erg Chebbi.
Now, you will go on a camel ride experience while enjoying the sunset view offering miraculous views until you get to the top of the sand dune. Appreciate the amazing views and the prevalent tranquility before getting to our luxury desert camp. A warm welcome by the staff members with mint tea and pastries as a Moroccan deep-seated ritual.
Have a delicious meal for dinner in the restaurant or under the stars. Later, you may want to stretch your legs in the soft sand dunes stargazing or contemplating before culminating the day with a relaxing sleep in your en-suite tent.
Early wake up in the morning, climb up the sand dune, and attend to the majestic view of the sunrise. Later, you will have a refreshing breakfast under the sunlight before getting ready for a long drive of around 10 hours back to Marrakech.
You will drive by the volcanic Anti-Atlas Mountains stopping by the Nkob Village with its countless Kasbahs, then Ouarzazate (Hollywood of Africa), which is known for the Atlas Film Studios that has turned the region into a filmmaking setting among international producers.
