By Sarah Thompson June 23, 2024
I recently had the pleasure of embarking on a 2-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga with 24camels, and it was truly an experience of a lifetime. From the moment we were picked up in Marrakech, the journey was filled with breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural experiences, and impeccable service. Our guide, Ahmed, was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, making sure we felt comfortable and informed throughout the trip. The drive through the Atlas Mountains offered stunning views and fascinating stops in traditional Berber villages, where we had the opportunity to learn about the local culture and history. One of the highlights of the tour was our visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou. Walking through this ancient kasbah, I felt as if I had stepped back in time. The architectural beauty and historical significance of this place were simply awe-inspiring. As we continued our journey, we arrived at the edge of the Sahara Desert. Watching the sun set over the golden dunes of Merzouga was a magical moment I will never forget. The camel ride to our desert camp was both serene and exhilarating, offering a unique perspective of the vast, tranquil landscape. Our overnight stay in the desert camp was equally memorable. The tents were comfortable and well-equipped, and the traditional Moroccan dinner served under the starry sky was delicious. The evening was filled with music and storytelling around the campfire, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Waking up to a spectacular sunrise over the dunes was the perfect way to end our desert adventure. After a hearty breakfast, we made our way back to Marrakech, our hearts full of wonderful memories and our cameras full of stunning photos. I cannot recommend 24camels highly enough. Their attention to detail, commitment to quality, and genuine hospitality made this desert tour an unforgettable experience.
