Private 12-Day Morocco Itinerary from Casablanca

Your 12-day Morocco itinerary begins in Casablanca, the country’s largest city and economic hub. We pick you up from the Mohammed V International Airport, the port, or your accommodation. 

Our first stop is the Hassan II Mosque, an architectural marvel known for its beautiful mosaics and location on the edge of the Atlantic coast.

We take you on a stroll along the Corniche to enjoy the seaside views. After a lunch break, we continue to explore the city before settling in a hotel for the night. 

Shortly after breakfast, we set off to visit the capital, Rabat. One hour’s drive away from Casablanca, Rabat is a beautiful imperial city with must-visit sites for travelers. We begin our exploration at the Kasbah of the Udayas, a fortified area dating back to the 14th century that features Andalusian gardens and breathtaking river views. 

We then visit the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a stunning architectural masterpiece housing the tombs of Moroccan monarchs. Not far from the Mausoleum, you will enjoy the view of the Hassan Tower. 

After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, we head to Chefchaouen. After a 4-hour drive, we reach the city in the Rif Mountains, where we’ll spend the night in a Riad/hotel.

We depart for Chefchaouen, a stunning town nestled in the Rif Mountains. Famous for its striking blue-painted streets and buildings, a photographer’s paradise. We’ll spend the day exploring the narrow alleys, browsing local shops that offer handmade crafts.

For a panoramic view of the city and surrounding mountains, we will take a hike to the Spanish Mosque, a short hike that’s particularly rewarding at sunset. 

After sunset, our tour takes you to try local specialties like goat cheese and tagines at a traditional restaurant before retiring for the night at a Riad/hotel.

After a morning stroll in Chefchaouen, we head to the Roman Ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We take you on a walk through the ancient city’s remarkably preserved mosaics, basilicas, and triumphal arches to gain insight into its Roman past.

We then continue to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities, known for its impressive gates and historical monuments. Here, we visit the famous El Hedim Square, surrounded by shops and local vendors, before heading to Fes. 

The day concludes with your arrival in the cultural heart of Morocco, where you’ll settle into a traditional riad. 

After breakfast, our 12-day Morocco itinerary will include an interesting guided tour of Fes. We begin our exploration of the Fes el Bali Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with narrow alleys, ancient mosques, and traditional souks. 

We then continue to the Royal Palace, where the golden gates provide a stunning backdrop for photos, and then move on to the Jewish Quarter (Mellah). 

The highlight of the day is the Old Medina, a labyrinth of narrow streets filled with bustling souks and historical landmarks.

We then visit the famous Al Quaraouiyine University, the oldest continually operating university in the world. The Bou Inania Madrasa, known for its exquisite architecture, is another must-see landmark. 

On the 6th day of the grand Morocco tour, we leave Fes and travel through the beautiful town of Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its Alpine-inspired architecture and cool climate. 

We visit the nearby cedar forests, home to the Barbary macaques. We stop for lunch in Midelt, surrounded by mountains, before descending into the lush Ziz Valley, an oasis of date palms and charming villages.

By evening, we arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Here, your desert trip begins with a camel trek into the dunes of Erg Chebbi, followed by a night under the stars in a luxury desert camp.

Our day starts early with a spectacular sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the desert camp. We will spend the day exploring the surrounding area, including the village of Khamlia, where you can enjoy live Gnawa music, and the desert landscapes, with stops at fossil sites and seasonal lakes.

A 4×4 excursion will take you deeper into the Sahara through its oases and rocky plateaus. In the late afternoon, your desert adventure begins with a camel trek into the dunes of Erg Chebbi, followed by a night under the stars in a luxury desert camp.

After bidding farewell to the desert, we travel to Todra Gorge, a canyon carved by the Todra River. 

We take a walk along the riverbank, surrounded by towering limestone cliffs and palm groves. We then continue to Dades Valley, an area featuring unique rock formations like the “Monkey Fingers.”

Along the way, we stop at local villages to experience the warm hospitality of the Amazigh people.

After breakfast, we resume our 12-day Morocco itinerary by including a visit to the dramatic Amredil Kasbah in Skoura, which dates back to the 17th century and is shrouded in mystery before heading to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert.”

We visit the renowned Atlas Studios, where many Hollywood blockbusters were filmed, and tour the Taourirt Kasbah, a marvel of Amazigh architecture.

We travel to Ait Benhaddou, a fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage Site that has served as a backdrop for countless films. We spend the night at a Riad/hotel in Ouarzazate. 

After a drive through the stunning High Atlas Mountains, we cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, where terraced fields and mountain villages dot the landscape. 

We stop at a local argan oil cooperative to learn about the unique product before arriving in Marrakech.

In the evening, you may want to visit the famous Jemaa el-Fna Square, a hub of street performers and food stalls. We stay the night at a riad in Marrakech.

On day 11 of our grand Morocco tour. We start your day at the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, a masterpiece of Almohad architecture and a prominent landmark of the city.

We then continue to the Saadian Tombs, a burial ground of the Saadian dynasty.

Next, we visit the Bahia Palace, a stunning example of Moroccan craftsmanship, with its beautiful tilework and gardens. We will also take you on a stroll through the Majorelle Garden, a botanical haven.

We conclude your Moroccan tour with a drive back to Casablanca. Depending on your departure time, you may get to enjoy one last visit to the Corniche or a local market before heading to the airport for your departure.
