Small-Group Chefchaouen Day Trip from Tangier

Your day begins with pickup from your accommodation or agreed address in Tangier.

Because this is a small-group tour and guests may be staying in different parts of the city, there is no single pickup time for everyone. We will confirm your individual pickup time according to your location before departure.

Once everyone has joined the vehicle, you’ll leave Tangier and head south toward Chefchaouen.

Travel through the countryside of northern Morocco toward the Rif Mountains.

The journey from Tangier to Chefchaouen generally takes around 2 to 2.5 hours, although actual travel time can vary depending on traffic, weather and pickup locations.

There may be a short comfort or photo stop along the way depending on the day’s schedule.

On arrival, meet your local guide and begin exploring Chefchaouen on foot.

Chefchaouen was founded in 1471 and developed beneath the peaks of the Rif Mountains. Today, it is particularly famous for the shades of blue found throughout its historic Medina.

Rather than simply dropping you off for photographs, the guided portion of the experience gives you context about the town, its history and everyday life.

Follow your local guide through Chefchaouen’s narrow lanes and distinctive blue-painted neighborhoods.

Depending on the route and conditions on the day, your walk may include:

Plaza Uta el-Hammam — the lively main square at the heart of the old town.

The Kasbah area — Chefchaouen’s historic fortified center.

The Medina — a maze of blue streets, small squares, homes, shops and workshops.

Ras El Maa — a traditional gathering point where mountain water flows into the town.

Your guide can also introduce you to aspects of local culture, architecture and crafts while helping you navigate parts of the Medina that are easy to miss when visiting independently.

After the guided visit, you’ll have free time to experience Chefchaouen at your own pace.

You might choose to have lunch at a local restaurant, return to your favorite blue streets for photographs, browse artisan shops or simply sit in a café and enjoy the atmosphere.

Lunch is intentionally not included, allowing you to choose where and what you’d like to eat rather than requiring the entire group to dine at the same restaurant.

Meet your driver at the agreed location and begin the journey back to Tangier.

You’ll be dropped off in Tangier after a full day exploring Chefchaouen.
